Brian McNeilly (MIL/COMPETITOR)
Brian McNeilly is joining John as an assistant instructor for the Scoped Rifle Advancement Course (SRAC). Brian’s background spans an unlikely patchwork of disciplines, but his passion has centered on understanding rifle employment. Brian is currently a Cloud/Network engineer for a large tech company, as well as a Captain in the US Army Reserves, serving as a Civil Affairs team leader and rifle/pistol instructor. Prior, he served as an infantry officer, to include a Rifle Platoon Leader in 2-506 IN BN, 101st ABN DIV (AASLT).
Brian started his shooting journey in 2014 after being exposed to rifle fundamentals as taught by members of the Army Marksmanship Unit. His curiosity prompted him to shoot local 2-gun matches, experiment with long-range shooting out to a mile, and reload his match and hunting ammunition. Brian purchased a shot timer and took his first carbine class in 2017, which he considers the turning point in his journey from tinkerer to student. He competed in Quantified Performance in 2023 and will compete again in the 2024 series.
Brian has a degree in Biblical Studies/Theology and Philosophy from Biola University and has worked at churches teaching adults Old Testament theology. He looks forward to bringing his passion for coaching, helping students ask better questions, and developing better goals to John’s curriculum for the SRAC.
